NO/AIDS Walk Share Grant Program
We are pleased to announce that the 22nd annual NO/AIDS WALK is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2011. The 2011 NO/AIDS WALK will take place along the traditional uptown route beginning and ending at Audubon Park. Thousands will join in a casual stroll down Magazine Street, to Napoleon Ave., down Prytania, returning to Audubon Park.
Our Board of Trustees is proud to announce that NO/AIDS will host a “WALK Share” program for Louisiana-based HIV/AIDS service organizations (agency criteria listed on attached form). Again this year, NO/AIDS will offer an opportunity to share WALK disbursements by allowing participating agencies to be reimbursed 75% of the proceeds that their WALK team turns in on, or before the day of the WALK. This will assist your agency in letting the community know that your part of this fundraising event to fight HIV/AIDS.
In the spirit of collaboration, we are inviting agencies working with HIV/AIDS throughout Louisiana to participate in the WALK with an opportunity to bring substantial resources their agency through a very easy process. Participating agencies will bring people together as a single WALK team, collect the team’s pledges, and perhaps WALK as a team behind the agency’s banner on September 25th. NO/AIDS will reimburse participating agencies 75% of the money that is collected and turned in (the 25% retained by NO/AIDS helps assure that event expenses are covered). It is that easy!
NO/AIDS Task Force will supply:
- Pledge sheets/with participating agencies included
- Team information packets along with a team registration number
- Posters
- Individual and team pages at http://www.noaidswalk.com where your team can fundraise online.
- Assistance in building a successful team
Participating Agencies agree to:
- Fill out participation form
- Include proof of 501(c)3 status (copy of determination letter).
- Distribute WALK posters, materials and information in their area of the state and/or with their constituents.
- Select a team captain for the agency team.
- The agency team captain must collect pledges and forms from all team members, complete the team pledge form and turn in everything together as a single team entry with the agency’s name attached.
- All money and pledges must be turned in prior to 10:00 a.m. WALK day.
- Agree to serve on an advisory committee for the WALK
Our goal is to offer participating agencies the chance to raise much needed resources and to provide an opportunity to have more community participation in the WALK.
Please note that all pledges turned in for a team must be turned in together and under the appropriate team’s name and team registration number. If not, we will not be able to reconcile all pledges and dollars collected for each agency’s team and the dollars collected will not be credited to the proper agency.
On the day of the WALK, participating AIDS service organizations will have a designated table at the Team Registration area where they may turn in their money and pledge sheets. Teams may also turn in monies at NO/AIDS Task Force offices the week prior to the WALK. They will receive WALK incentives at that time, and avoid the lines WALK morning.
Over the past 21 years, we have been able to distribute over $400,000 to various HIV/AIDS service organizations throughout Louisiana. We believe that the “WALK Share” process is easier to administer than a grant process, and easier for eligible agencies to participate and raise funds need for HIV/AIDS prevention education and direct services.
