On August 11 we’re asking you to help us kick off the countdown to the NO/AIDS WALK. Come “Walk Your BRASS Off” at The Howlin Wolf from 8:00 pm to midnight. You’re sure to walk and
dance your brass off with a line-up that includes Mia Borders, The Original Pinettes Brass Band (the world’s only all female brass band) and the Queen Diva of Bounce music, Big Freedia. The 610 Stompers will also be on hand to keep the crowd energized and share some of their signature dance moves. And there may be some other special guests throughout the night.
You get all of this plus NO/AIDS Walk swag and a promise of a great night for only $15. You can either pay at the door the night of the event or buy your tickets ahead of time online at http://www.thehowlinwolf.com.
Here’s the quick and dirty on our awesome line-up:
Mia Borders was one of the stand-out, surprise acts at this year’s Jazzfest. Her energetic blend of funk, soul and contemporary songwriting drew quite the crowd at the Gentilly Stage and more importantly, got the crowd moving.
The Original Pinettes Brass Band, billed as the World’s Only All-Female Brass Brand are some of the hardest working ladies in town. You may have seen them at Jazzfest, Satchmo Fest, French Quarter Fest or marching in the Krewe of Muses, to name only a few of their recent appearances. In a genre typically dominated by men, these ladies have made a name for themselves and are sure to shine on August 11th.
Our final artist is the undisputed Queen Diva of Bounce Music, Big Freedia. In the last few year’s, she’s taken the world by storm, performing all over the globe. She was recently even featured in an article in the New York Times. You’ve surely heard her at any number of shows around town or at Jazzfest or Voodoo Fest.
Finally, all night long, the men who made mustaches cool again, the 610 Stompers will be on hand to share their Extrordinary Moves with the crowd and keep you moving.
Did we mention that we also have special gifts for folks who sign up for The NO/AIDS Walk that night? No? Well, we have special gifts if you sign up to Walk that night. So get your tickets now to avoid the lines on August 11th.
